What is PRINCE2\u00ae<\/h5>

When searching for a recognized and widespread project management method, the term PRINCE2\u00ae quickly comes to the forefront. PRINCE\u00ae or “Projects in Controlled Environments” was originally created in 1989 by the Computer and Telecommunication Agency in Great Britain and adopted as a government standard for project management in IT. Over the years, it established itself as a general method for project management, and through continuous development, the methodology got its current name: PRINCE2\u00ae. It is by no means a standard in the classical sense. It is rather an approach based on recommendations for action. Through numerous practical applications, it has been continuously improved, and through best practices, it helps organizations implement projects as efficiently and effectively as possible. <\/p>

What Characterizes the Method?<\/h5>

The special feature of the method is its focus on products. This means that in planning, the results to be achieved are first defined. From this, the activities necessary to successfully deliver the products are agreed upon. PRINCE2\u00ae not only offers the flexibility to adapt the approach to the respective project but even sets this as a principle for correct application. Due to its general formulation, the method can be scaled to any project and applied in any company, regardless of the industry. <\/p>

Another characteristic of this methodology is ensuring clear communication. It addresses the weak point of projects, but also of general interpersonal interaction. With a regulated communication strategy, every project employee understands the requirements, authorizations, or responsibilities. This gives the project and its participants a structured and solid framework. <\/p>

Furthermore, PRINCE2\u00ae is an instrument through which lessons are learned from mistakes and experience is leveraged. Continuous improvement is at the forefront, ensuring that not only in the future but also in the ongoing project, the best possible achievement of objectives can be guaranteed. <\/p>

How is the Method Structured?<\/h5>

According to PRINCE2\u00ae, a project consists of six different dimensions: quality, costs, benefits, scope, risks, and time. The task of project management according to PRINCE2\u00ae is the planning, delegation, monitoring, and control of these variables through a system of processes and themes. Through these dimensions, the framework conditions of project performance can ultimately be influenced. <\/p>

Furthermore, PRINCE2\u00ae consists of four interlocking building blocks: the project environment, to which one must adapt the approach and which simultaneously represents a basic principle. The seven basic principles that determine whether it is a PRINCE2\u00ae project. The seven themes that must always be dealt with to carry out the project. And finally, the seven processes by which the project approach can be carried out step-by-step, from preparation to completion. <\/p>

The basic principles define the framework conditions for the project in the form of a checklist. They have developed and proven themselves in practice. <\/p>
