IT-as-a-Service at Reuss-Seifert GmbH

It is becoming increasingly difficult for companies to operate their own IT infrastructure cost-effectively, securely, and according to the current state of technology. In order to refocus on core competencies and save valuable resources, outsourcing certain services to a reliable IT service provider is often a good option. According to a study by Bitkom (Bitkom Digital Office Index 2016), 8 out of 10 companies in Germany already use external IT services. The construction supplier Reuss-Seifert also decided on an IT-as-a-Service model and relies on digatus.
Client: Reuss-Seifert GmbH

Reuss-Seifert GmbH can look back on over 100 years of company history. The Seifert brothers founded the company in 1906 with a focus on utility and decorative items as well as photo tripods. Over the decades, the company gradually developed into a construction supplier. Hidden in concrete, Reuss-Seifert’s products contribute to the stability, statics, and durability of each building. Well-known examples include the Arena auf Schalke and the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin.
Reuss-Seifert’s product range includes spacers, sealing technology, and fastening technology. Distribution is global with a main focus on Germany and Europe.

Initial Situation and Challenge

In 2015, Reuss-Seifert was acquired by the AURELIUS Group. This served as an opportunity for comprehensive structural optimization and modernization of the historically grown IT infrastructure within a given timeframe.
In addition to a thorough inventory, the smooth takeover of systems from the previous provider was a core task of the project. This task was made more difficult by, among other things, a predominantly inadequate documentation situation. The project encompassed five locations in Germany and one location in Poland with a total of 120 users.

“By outsourcing our IT infrastructure to digatus, we ensure that we can always operate at the cutting edge of technology. The professional and pragmatic collaboration with digatus helps us to focus specifically on our core business and thus always be able to react flexibly to market requirements.”

Solution

As part of the IT restructuring, the existing data center in Sprockhövel was migrated to the digatus data center in Augsburg. From there, all required IT services are now provided from one of digatus’ data centers. This reduced the on-premise IT infrastructure at Reuss-Seifert to the firewall and telephone system.
At the same time, it was essential to bring the employee systems up to date. This included updating the operating system on individual clients and partly on server systems. digatus took over the entire IT operation for the five locations in Germany as well as the location in Poland. This includes, among other things, the administration of the network by digatus support as well as precise monitoring of the IT infrastructure.

Customer Benefits

By transferring the entire IT infrastructure to digatus, Reuss-Seifert is now able to focus on its core competencies and thus remains competitive for the future.
Through reliable IT support with short response times and intensive monitoring and maintenance of security-relevant systems, digatus always ensures secure and cost-effective IT operations.
The flexible scalability of server resources according to actual needs and the reduction of on-premise infrastructure also resulted in enormous cost savings for Reuss-Seifert.
