Experience report: Our trainee IT specialist for system integration on the first six months of his training

digatus training 6 months
Mohammed Diko started his training as an IT specialist for system integration as our first trainee half a year ago. What has happened to him since then and what does the future hold for us as a training company?

After a week-long internship to get to know each other, Mohammed began his training with us last September as an IT specialist for system integration. For us, his hiring as our first trainee was an important milestone in order to continue our continuous growth and to counteract the shortage of skilled workers as a training company.

Asked: Mohammed, how were your first months as a trainee IT specialist for system integration?

Choosing digatus as a training company was the right decision for me. I feel very comfortable here and have been involved everywhere from the start. The onboarding and integration into the team at the Augsburg location went very well despite Corona and the measures required as a result. Getting to know the colleagues at the other locations personally is currently hardly possible, as, for example, the traditional Christmas party and the summer party cannot take place as usual at the moment. However, some opportunities have been created to meet online. For example, new employees are introduced in the form of short employee spotlight videos on the intranet, and in the daily Morning Show we can exchange ideas as if in a virtual coffee kitchen.

I always had a contact person for my open questions and concerns, both for work and vocational school topics. Many of my colleagues have completed an apprenticeship themselves and can give me valuable tips, for example what I should learn for vocational school and how I can learn it more easily. I believe that with their support I can pass my apprenticeship with a very good grade and become an IT expert myself.

I particularly like the fact that I can carry out interesting and varied tasks during the training and gain very good insights into the daily work, the general processes and the sometimes very complex processes in IT. My tasks include both internal topics and external ones for customers. For example, I set up the workplaces for new colleagues by setting up their laptops, providing them with monitors, keyboards and mice, issuing transfer certificates for the respective devices and supporting them in setting up the hardware. Every now and then, a laptop had to be reset and then set up again or prepared for a customer according to their requirements. In addition, I have also dealt a lot with server infrastructures, including data carrier cleaning, the installation of hard drives and RAM, and the implementation of a RAID 1 configuration on Poweredge R620. My daily tasks also include maintaining our ticketing system.

I really enjoy the varied work with software and hardware and I am excited to see what else I will learn during the rest of my training.

Action-oriented training – we are looking for more trainees!

Since Mohammed should by no means be our last trainee, our colleagues continue to acquire the appropriate qualifications and experience to be able to cover further training occupations.
We are also looking for motivated, technology-savvy trainees for the start of the coming training year. We look forward to receiving your application as a trainee:

  • IT specialist for system integration
  • IT systems management specialist
  • Specialist in digitalization management

From 2022, the following training occupations will then follow in Augsburg: IT specialist for application development, IT specialist for data and process analysis and IT specialist for digital networking.
