My Start at digatus
My first contact with digatus was at the Pyramid Company Contact Fair at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences. The fair was recommended to me by a good friend whose company was also represented there.
My goal for the fair was to find a suitable company that would support me with modern technologies, such as the Java Spring Framework, during my Master’s thesis and offer opportunities in high-level language development (Java, C# or similar).
During my tour, I also visited the digatus booth and was immediately greeted with interesting puzzles. What particularly impressed me was the team’s friendly and relaxed atmosphere, as a good working environment was an important factor for me when choosing a company. In conversation with the team, it quickly became clear that digatus is a dynamic and young company with a very straightforward approach. I was immediately offered to drop by for a coffee without obligation to discuss potential topics for my Master’s thesis at leisure. I gladly accepted this offer, and a suitable topic was quickly found.
Daily Life as a Master’s Student
From day one, I was fully integrated and had plenty to do. After receiving my laptop and setting everything up, I received a brief overview of the current projects and their technological implementation from one of the Senior Developers. The concept behind my Master’s thesis topic was also explained in more detail, enabling me to start as quickly as possible and with personal responsibility.
During my time as a Master’s student, I was able to pursue my studies without any problems, and no obstacles were placed in my path. I could freely experiment with the latest technologies, thereby gaining valuable experience that I directly incorporated into my project. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to present my work directly to some clients. It brought me great joy to integrate and consider the direct customer feedback received in this way into my work.
My biggest challenge was certainly getting started and familiarizing myself with the Spring Framework. Fortunately, my colleagues were always able to help me with questions, allowing me to directly acquire new knowledge. In contrast to my previous experiences at other companies, digatus provided me with the necessary hardware and development software, which was also adapted as needed. For instance, I quickly and easily received a RAM upgrade. A brief discussion with my supervisor was sufficient for this.
Career Entry after Submission of Master’s Thesis
After the successful project completion and the associated submission of my Master’s thesis, I received an offer for permanent employment from digatus, which I gladly accepted. I was integrated into further exciting projects and quickly took on more and more responsibility. Later, my Master’s thesis was graded with a 1.3, which is certainly also thanks to the excellent support at digatus; many thanks for that.
“I am very happy to now be part of this highly motivated young team. We also get along very well outside of work.”
Simon Brunner – Software Developer
Meanwhile, I am involved in developing exciting projects, such as a microservice landscape for the world’s largest calendar publisher, and participate in other diverse projects. For example, for the Azure Cloud, I develop Azure Functions for automated user provisioning based on the C# programming language, and I have the opportunity to jointly shape new features with the latest technologies in direct exchange with Microsoft.
