Client: Stumpp + Schüle GmbH
Stumpp + Schüle GmbH, a traditional automotive supplier based in Beuren and former subsidiary of the Lesjöfors Group, employs around 90 people. With its many years of experience and a clear focus on quality and innovation, Stumpp + Schüle is one of the reliable partners in spring manufacturing. The Beuren site forms the central heart of the company, from which all production and development processes are controlled.
Initial Situation and Challenge
The carve-out of Stumpp + Schüle, which was acquired by FairCap GmbH, was characterized by a close IT integration with the former parent company Lesjöfors. All systems, including servers, networks, and software, were centrally organized and fully integrated into the group’s IT landscape.
This dependency meant that both business-critical applications such as the ERP system and cloud services, as well as security measures and data management, were directly connected to Lesjöfors’ infrastructure. At the same time, Stumpp + Schüle’s ongoing operations relied on the IT functioning without interruption, which posed special requirements for the separation.
Additionally, the employees were familiar with the existing systems, which presented a challenge as they would have to work with an independent IT landscape in the future. Time constraints and the high complexity of the project increased the pressure to implement the separation efficiently and without compromising operational continuity. However, thanks to the professional takeover by FairCap and a clearly structured approach, the transition was successfully mastered.
Solution
The IT separation of Stumpp + Schüle from the Lesjöfors Group presented a complex challenge that required comprehensive restructuring. The goal was to build an independent IT landscape that meets both current requirements and is prepared for the future.
Prior to the carve-out, a due diligence was conducted to thoroughly analyze all IT systems, processes, and data, and to identify potential risks. Based on this analysis, a detailed plan for the IT separation could be developed.
For this purpose, new servers, networks, and software licenses were implemented, while all data was securely and completely migrated to the new environment. To ensure the protection of sensitive information, dedicated security measures such as firewalls, emergency plans, and a comprehensive IT security concept were introduced.
IT operations were handed over to an external support team that works closely with internal contacts. Critical business processes, including ERP systems and cloud services, had to be seamlessly adapted or newly set up during the transition.
Another focus was on the employees: through targeted change management, they could be optimally prepared for the new systems. Thanks to the due diligence, precise planning, and implementation, the IT separation proceeded without interruption to business operations and laid the foundation for Stumpp + Schüle’s independent functionality.
Customer Benefits
Through the successful carve-out, Stumpp + Schüle was able to realize decisive advantages. In advance, a comprehensive due diligence was conducted to analyze the existing IT landscape and identify potential risks early on. This thorough preparation was a key success factor for the further course of the project.
The newly created IT landscape enables the company to be independent from its former parent company and ensures greater flexibility in adapting to future requirements. Customized IT solutions guarantee that the infrastructure is optimally aligned with Stumpp + Schüle’s specific needs.
Another central benefit lies in improved data security. With an independent security architecture, including modern firewalls and backup systems, sensitive company data is comprehensively protected. Additionally, employees benefit from fast and targeted IT support by digatus, which is aligned with on-site requirements.
A major advantage of the project was that all services were provided from a single source. This reduced interface problems, ensured clear responsibility, and significantly simplified communication.
The transparent cost structure of the new IT landscape allows for better planning and control of IT expenses. Through professional project execution, supported by experienced project managers, agile methods, and a Project Management Office (PMO), resources were efficiently utilized and potential risks were minimized early on. This led to a smooth implementation of the carve-out and laid the foundation for a future-proof, independent IT solution.
