My internship at digatus – initiative is highly valued here!

Internship at digatus
It was love at second glance. When I first heard about digatus almost a year ago, I thought: An internship at digatus? What can you learn there? I would soon find out that I was quite wrong with this initial assessment.
My path to digatus

I had my first point of contact with digatus as part of a presentation at the members’ meeting of the student consulting firm JCT, where I am involved. Even though digatus was not yet able to directly arouse my interest at that time, I noticed the direct, friendly, almost amicable interaction very positively. Therefore, I remained in sporadic contact with Patrick Streit, one of the people who introduced digatus.

When, like so many other students, I had to cancel my planned internship abroad due to Corona and was looking for an alternative at short notice, this contact came in very handy. After a short coffee, I quickly realized that digatus is more than the usual IT service provider. digatus is a still very young, rapidly growing and, despite Corona, very stable company, which consists of both young professionals and very experienced employees.

Due to the agility lived by digatus, a very short-term internship was no problem after a short persuasion. I started my first day of work just four weeks later.

“If you not only want to learn a lot and work on exciting tasks, but also become part of a great team, digatus is highly recommended.”

Three eventful internship months

I can now look back on three months full of exciting, very different and always instructive experiences – I only made coffee for myself 😉. During the first few weeks, I was integrated into the team very quickly. From the beginning, I had the feeling that I could communicate with everyone at eye level. The occasional round at the foosball table was the only place where hierarchies could be felt – admittedly, my skills in this area are still in need of improvement. Apart from a few predefined tasks, such as participating in a real consulting project or researching internal training opportunities, I enjoyed a lot of freedom from the beginning and was able to position and pursue my own ideas.

I have always encountered open ears and enthusiastic colleagues who, despite a very full schedule, always took the time to give feedback, work together on an idea or simply provide contacts.

The focus during my internship was on two matters close to my heart – Process Mining and knowledge transfer using Lessons Learned. Through my aforementioned involvement with JCT, I had the opportunity to familiarize myself with the software Celonis, the market leader for Process Mining Software, before the internship. I was able to use the connection to Celonis and my prior knowledge to initiate, carry out and also complete a first Process Mining pilot project. The hands-on approach necessary due to my limited internship duration was not only tolerated, but rather encouraged. The approach was characterized by uncomplicated and therefore quick, but by no means ill-considered decisions. And who knows, maybe digatus will be the next process consulting house – there is definitely still enough potential in the area!

So if you not only want to learn a lot and work on exciting tasks, but also become part of a great team, digatus is highly recommended.
